SmartMonkey Foods Press Release.

PORTLAND GOURMET RAW CHEFS CATER THEATRICAL EVENT
SmartMonkey Foods Delivers Gourmet Living Fare for an Energetic Up-All-Night
Birthday Celebration
October 6, 2003
PORTLAND, Ore - When Tonya Kay celebrated
her twenty-seventh birthday on the road with the traveling production
of STOMP, she knew she wanted to go all out. The energetic performer
envisioned a party with all the traditional trappings, "birthday
cake, candles, obnoxious double dog dare displays of nudity on
the 3 AM streets, all the usual." She knew that the menu would
have to be unique, combining decadently sweet indulgences with
the revitalizing fuel she and her fellow cast members would need
to party all night long.
Tonya turned to Ani Phyo and Ede Schweizer
of Portland's SmartMonkey Foods to create ultra-healthy, energizing,
raw birthday fare for 19 members of the STOMP cast and crew. Tempting
delights like Carrot Dream Cake and Deep Forest Carob Cake traveled
across the country, from Oregon to North Carolina, arriving in
time for Tonya's special night "in flawless condition." Although
Tonya's fellow cast members did not yet share her devotion to
the raw food lifestyle, they expressed delight and amazement at
the "hearty and rich" treats.
Tonya met Ani and Ede during a STOMP
tour in Oregon and enjoyed spending time with them during the
International Raw and Living Foods Festival in August. She knew
"they use only the highest quality organic ingredients and have
exquisite sensitive taste buds." She was delighted when Ani assured
her "they were visualizing positive birthday vibes" as they developed
her party menu.
STOMP cast members maintain a grueling
schedule, practicing and performing the intensely physical, fast-paced
show as they travel throughout the country. Tonya credits her
raw food diet with keeping her "strong and energized." Ani explains
that SmartMonkey Foods products like the Carrot Dream Cake and
Deep Forest Carob Cake are the ultimate in high energy, healthful
eating. Both cakes, she explains, are sweetened with dates and
carrots, and "packed full of protein from sprouted almonds and
electrolytes from coconut." She adds, "This makes our cakes good
for the body, providing protein in a form that's easy to absorb
and use."
SmartMonkey Foods' line of packaged
gourmet raw foods is available in the Portland area at Food Front
Cooperative Market and at Whole Foods Markets. All products are
available online at www.smartmonkeyfoods.com, and as the cast
and crew of STOMP found out, SmartMonkey Foods gourmet cuisine
can be shipped throughout the country.
STOMP performer Tonya Kay has become
a SmartMonkey Foods groupie. She describes SmartMonkey Foods'
chefs Ani and Ede as "intelligent, compassionate, grounded, and
really conscious of both the humor and seriousness of our chosen
lifestyle." They are a delight to work with, says Tonya, adding,
"SmartMonkey Foods made my birthday that special day it is supposed
to be."
